Handling & Moving Two Day Basic Induction Course

Welcome to Manual Handling Two Day Basic Induction

"Keeping people safer in their work, lives and communities"

This is an essential part of your learning and will be delivered over two full days.

The two day course is for anyone who has not undertaken manual handling before, or has not attended Refresher training in more than two years, and wishes to keep themselves and others safe that they support.

All aspects of manual handling are covered and everyone who attends will be encouraged to get involved through a range of  conversations, demonstrations on safe and efficient techniques and manoeuvres.

We will have practical sessions on how to use current equipment such as wheelchairs, hoists, stand aids, slings, glide sheets and lots more.

We hope the course will encourage everyone to think and promote safer ways of working whilst looking after their own health and those of others either in work, life or in the community.

Aims

  • To have an awareness and understaning of current legislative framework and the importance of the law and how this impacts on your daily working practice, in life and community care.
  • To keep everyone up to date with any changes to current practice, techniques and usage of new equipment.

Outcomes

  • To have an understanding of safe and efficient movement in relation to your own personal care, those who you are caring for and work colleagues within the community care sector.
  • To have the knowledge, confidence and practical skills of how to use all relevant equipment, hoists etc., that are used within Perth & Kinross.
